Labour of Love: Raising a Business

March 31, 2017 | Business Journey

By Suzy Rounce

As everyone knows with side projects that they are these amazing little bundles of excitement. They are full of potential, depth and enjoyment. Some people are really great at side projects, they have no problem making time and finding the energy to bring these projects to life. They know that they aren’t ‘work’, they are soul food that feeds your creativity. Other people find side projects something that they have a lot of ideas about but never seem to find the time to make it happen. Excuses, procrastination and fatigue get in the way. If you can train your brain to put the effort into these ideas instead of watching Walking Dead on a Sunday night, big things might start to happen.

If you can train your brain to put the effort into these ideas instead of watching Walking Dead on a Sunday night, big things might start to happen.

A few months ago we had this idea to create a podcast, we couldn’t help but connect the fact that we know so many amazing businesses and get to work with the owners who run them. We know their stories and love what they have to say. A few times in our Switchback blog we have written posts about raising a business together as a husband and wife team and what that is like. Those posts are what people comment on when we are out for coffee or at events. It seems clear that the real life stories of running are a business what interest people. Those two parts: amazing people and great stories are how the Raising a Business podcast was born.

We are proud to present our first episode! It is a side project of ours that sometimes we struggled with but was also at times pure joy. It is a labour of love that will share the stories of some of the amazing people we have met along the way and continue to meet every week.

Check out the website here and our first episode where we explain a bit more about how we ended up here today.
